Preparing for a king would usually bring out your best… John’s rustic outfit was anything but fancy. His message didn’t demand ‘the best’ from people either. Much the contrary, John called people to put away their pride and honestly confess their sin and be washed in repentance. In John’s message we still find the same call, prepare for the King in humility.
