Unpredictable Predictions: A King From & For the Lowly

Unpredictable. Does that word make you uneasy? Excited? Curious? As we head into the Christmas season we probably prefer predictability. We prefer to believe that everything we love about this time of year will actually happen. We prefer to celebrate familiar traditions and sing familiar songs. There is comfort in the predictable…it helps us feel like we’re in control. In the events leading up to the incarnation (fancy word for God taking on our flesh), the Lord made many unpredictable announcements. The people who received them would never have anticipated them. So even as we pray for the predictable this Christmas season, this series will lead us to be open to God’s unpredictable work in the world, our communities and our lives.
